JIKU WORKS is dedicated to presenting the quiet beauty of traditional Japanese hanging scrolls and the mindful experience they bring to everyday life.

For centuries, hanging scrolls -known as kakejiku- have been an essential part of Japanese interior culture. Displayed in a tokonoma alcove, a scroll reflects the season, an occasion, or a thoughtful message drawn from history or Zen philosophy. It gently invites us to pause and appreciate the changing seasons, the passage of time, and the company we share.

At JIKU WORKS, each hanging scroll is handcrafted in Japan using traditional mounting techniques refined over the years. Skilled craftsmen carefully assemble the artwork with selected fabrics and backing papers, creating a balanced composition that quietly supports the artwork and enhances its beauty and meaning.

Hanging scrolls can be rolled and stored, making them easy to replace according to the season or occasion, allowing a room to reflect the mood of the moment.

We are delighted to share this Japanese tradition of savoring the present moment through hanging scrolls and to help bring a sense of tranquility into everyday spaces.

How to Enjoy a Hanging Scroll
Display your hanging scroll in any space you like and enjoy the atmosphere it brings to your everyday surroundings.
When not on display, simply roll it up and store it neatly until the next occasion.

How to Roll a Hanging Scroll
Before rolling the scroll, gently brush any dust from the surface.
To avoid creasing, carefully align the edges of the scroll and roll it gently and evenly.
Finally, secure it lightly with the attached cord to prevent it from unrolling.

Storage
Place the scroll in its box to prevent it from being crushed, and store it away from direct sunlight and humidity.

After Long-Term Storage
If a hanging scroll has been stored rolled up for a long time, especially smaller ones, it may show slight waviness when first unrolled.
In such cases, gently roll the scroll in the opposite direction for a short time to relax the curl. After hanging it for a while, the surface will gradually settle.
